The Hyundai Palisade: Driving in Comfort and Style

Hyundai Palisade Overview

Making its first appearance last year, the Hyundai Palisade made a splash in the Wexford area with its synergy of power, roominess, and tech. It's also, so far, the largest vehicle from Hyundai. While this midsize crossover was initially available in SE, SEL, and Limited flavors, Aliquippa area shoppers now have a fourth choice, the Calligraphy, that represents the Palisade's top-level trim.

Large and round-edged with a trapezoid-inspired silver-finished front grille, the Hyundai Palisade is a captivating ride. LEDs power the automatic headlights with bright illumination, with LED accents for an aesthetic touch, and the front doors bear heated side mirrors. A sunroof, roof rails, turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors, and satin chrome door handles appear at the SEL trim level. At the Limited trim level, Hyundai upgrades the moonroof with dual panels and replaces the halogen light bulbs on the taillights with LEDs. The Calligraphy stands out with features such as side-mirror puddle lights, rear accent lighting and side-door garnish for enhanced aesthetics, and front and rear skid plates for undercarriage protection.

Interior and Technology

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade has three rows of cloth-trimmed seats. The SE includes a second-row bench-style seat to accommodate up to eight people; other trims have a pair of captain's seats in the second row to reduce maximum capacity to seven. Regardless of trim, though, the Palisade provides a passenger volume of 155.3 cubic feet, which makes it one of the roomiest vehicles in its class. It's also unique in that it enables speaker muting for rear-seat passengers (Rear Seat Quiet Mode). Front-seat heating, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and driver-side power appear at the SEL trim level.

The Limited and Calligraphy represent Palisade luxury, offering upgraded amenities such as:

  • Nappa leather upholstery
  • Front-seat cooling
  • Steering-wheel heating
  • Rear-seat heating and cooling
  • Power adjustability extended to the front passenger seat
  • Driver-side memory

Quilted leather-door panels are unique to the aptly named Calligraphy.

For infotainment, the Palisade combines a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system, HD Radio, Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, five USB ports, and an eight-inch touchscreen. In addition, there's a seven-inch digital instrumentation cluster for providing vital driver information. The SEL trim level gains a tri-zone automatic climate control system, proximity keyless entry with push-button engine start, and automatic dimming and a garage-door opener on the rearview mirror.

The Limited or Calligraphy get wireless charging ability, a 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, third-row USB ports, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon® surround sound system.

Standard driver-assistance features on the 2021 Palisade consist:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward collision assist
  • Driver attention warning
  • Lane following assist
  • Lane keeping assist
  • Rearview camera with rear parking sensors

For protection when there's a crash, the Palisade can deploy any of seven airbags installed throughout the cabin. The SEL comes with more driver assistance-thanks to blind-spot monitoring, safe exit assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Limited or the Calligraphy stand out with a surround-view camera that replaces the rearview camera, front parking sensors in addition to the rear parking ones, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, and highway drive assist.

Moon Township, PA shoppers can choose from four 2021 Hyundai Palisade trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy.
